VPSA Process

Aug 26, 2017

Most of O2 and inert gases flow through the molecular sieves into the O2 buffer tank, the O2 compressor and the O2 storage tank. Molecular sieves start to adsorb gases and stop when they become saturated under a constant pressure. The molecular sieves need to be regenerated for next adsorption course. The regeneration of molecular sieves is the process of desorbing N2, H2O and CO2 from molecular sieves by reducing the pressure.

To achieve better performance, in the beginning, molecular sieves should be activated by executing adsorption and desorption for several cycles. The activation includes the steps of suspending, decompressing and waste gases venting.

Molecular sieves separate O2 from air by circularly and continuously taking the process of adsorption and regeneration. To obtain the high and stable production rate, the Double-column VPSA system is designed with two adsorption vessels that alternately execute adsorption and desorption. In the same time, adsorption vessel No.1 takes the process of adsorption and adsorption vessel No.2 takes the process of desorption.

In recent years, one of the trends is a simplified process flow VPSA oxygen technology development. From the past three, four single beds to two beds, 6000m³ / h VPSA oxygen equipment should be selected two 3000m³ / h equipments. At the same time meeting the technological requirements.
