PSA Vs VPSA

Mar 12, 2020

PSA oxygen generator is widely used in medical and industrial oxygen. Here we compare the PSA and VPSA working principle. Hope it can help you know more about them.

PSA:

The pressure swing adsorption oxygen generator uses clean compressed air as the raw material and zeolite molecular sieve as the adsorbent. It uses the principle of pressure swing adsorption to obtain oxygen at room temperature. According to the difference in the adsorption amount of oxygen and nitrogen on the surface of the zeolite molecular sieve in the air and the diffusion rate of oxygen and nitrogen in the zeolite molecular sieve, the programmable valve is used to control the opening and closing of the pneumatic valve to achieve pressure adsorption and decompression In the process, the separation of oxygen and nitrogen is completed to obtain oxygen of the required purity.

VPSA:

Vacuum pressure swing adsorption air separation for oxygen production uses high-quality zeolite molecular sieve to adsorb nitrogen. Unadsorbed oxygen accumulates at the top of the tower and is delivered to the oxygen storage tank as product gas. When the adsorption tower in the adsorption state is close to saturation, the tower is automatically decompressed and desorbed for regeneration, while the other adsorption tower starts to adsorb and produce oxygen under pressure. The two adsorption towers work alternately to complete the oxygen production process. When the adsorption tower is desorbed and regenerated, a negative pressure is used, which is called VPSA oxygen production.
