1. Product Description.
Chemxin Molecular Sieve 13X is the sodium form of the type X crystal and has a much larger pore opening than the type A crystals. It will adsorb molecules with a kinetic diameter of less than 10 Angstrom (1.0 nm) and exclude those larger. It also has the highest theoretical capacity of the common adsorbents and very good mass transfer rates. It can remove impurities too large to fit into a type A crystal and is commonly used to separate nitrogen from oxygen.
Molecular Sieve Gas Sweetening Unit is a special system designed to remove or reduce hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from natural gas stream by applying solid desiccants or adsorbents. Gas sweetening unit is one the gas sweetening processes to reduce H2S in natural gas stream. H2S is a toxic and corrosive non-hydrocarbon substance, which flows up from the wellhead with liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons. H2S shall be removed gas stream to protect pipeline, equipment, and personnel.
Molecular sieve process is a very mature technology in gas treatment and processing, mol. sieve sweetening units consists of two, three or more columns filled with solid adsorbents, gas filters, and other associated regeneration equipment. Special solid desiccant, molecular sieve zeolite, is placed in columns. Sour gas (H2S-rich) gas comes in contact with zeolite, and special structure of zeolite captures hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in its porous structure. After inlet gas (sour gas) lost H2S, it becomes sweet gas, and sweet gas is discharged to further processing or disposal, such as dehydration, being fuel gas for turbines, etc. Sweet gas may contain very few amount dust and particles of adsorbent, these particles shall be removed by gas filter local on upstream of columns. Filters protect instruments, valves, upstream equipment and piping from short- or long-term damaging. As H2S is trapped in adsorbent bed, it shall be removed by hot gas. Hot gas is a sweet, which is heated by special direct fired heaters up to 315°C and discharged to spent bed (H2S-containing adsorbent bed). The hot gas picks up H2S and hydrocarbons as it flows upward through the bed, and is discharged to a flare system. This process is called bed regeneration. After regeneration, bed shall be cooled before bed accepts sour gas to repeat the cycle of gas sweetening.
2. Typical Application:
a) Removal of CO2 and moisture from air (air pre-purification) and other gases.
b) Separation of enriched oxygen from air.
c) Removal of n-chained compositions from aromatics.
d) Removal of R-SH and H2S from hydrocarbon liquid streams (LPG, butane etc.)
e) Catalyst protection, removal of oxygenates from hydrocarbons (olefin streams).
f) Production of bulk oxygen in PSA units.
3. Regeneration:
Chemxin molecular sieve Type 13X can be regenerated by either heating in the case of thermal swing processes; or by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure swing processes.
To remove moisture from a 13X molecular sieve, a temperature of 250-300°C is required. A properly regenerated molecular sieve can give moisture dew points below -100°C, or mercaptans or CO2 levels below 2 ppm.
The outlet concentrations on a pressure swing process will depend on the gas present, and on the conditions of the process
4. Size:
13X - Zeolite are available in beads of 1-2 mm(10x18 mesh), 2-3 mm(8x12 mesh), 2.5-5 mm(4x8 mesh) and as powder, and in pellet 1.6mm, 3.2mm.
5. Attention:
To avoid damp and pre-adsorption of organic before running, or must to be reactivated.
